This 5th October there will be pickling, potting and preserving of all kinds of produce at the Powderham Food Festival!

Our friends at Helpful Holidays are proud sponsors of the event at Powderham Castle, a 600 year-old stately home surrounded by a beautiful deer park perched beside the Exe estuary. More than 100 producers will be there ready to provide tastings, talks and demonstrations. You will learn how to smoke, salt, pickle, brew or jam your food.

Also showing will be the BBC’s “incredible spice men”, Tony Singh and Cyrus Todiwala to help you get to grips with a many spice combinations for a variety of recipes.

Still with availability is this terrific two-storey house (sleeps 6), standing right on the beach with panoramic views from the back across the water to Teignmouth.

Inside it has a modern coastal decor, two balconies and big ceiling-high windows to enjoy the waterside view. An open-plan living/dining/kitchen area positioned for the best views, a snug with further seating for 5, ground-floor loo. Upstairs are three good-sized bedrooms with views over the water. Two doubles, one with balcony and en suite, a smart twin (zip-linkable to 6′ bed) and shower room.
